PM Orders the Minister of Economy to Provide Social Protection to Those Affected by Inflation

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen said that he was requesting the Minister of Economy, Aun Pornmoniroth, to include those affected by inflation to receive social protection allowances.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony for students of Vanda Institute on Monday morning, 3 October, Prime Minister Hun Sen said, "Only two to three thousand, or four to five thousand families, we now support with about US $40 million a month, it’s okay! We will continue. Who says that the Hun Sen government has no money? You can say it, but the people are the ones [who benefit] from the money."

The Prime Minister also spoke of the government's policy that has helped the poor and pregnant women in the past.

"This is a program that the government is implementing," he said. "Why can’t the government speak [about it]? [Why] can't the Prime Minister speak [about it]? I confirm that I will continue to do so.”
